What is Moonlight?

Moonlight is an open source implementation of Silverlight, essentially for the Linux platform and other Unix based operating systems. Historically, during September 2007, Microsoft and Novell collaborated so that Microsoft could share its test suites for Silverlight and the distribute a Media Pack for Linux users that will contain licensed media codecs for video and audio. Later, Moonlight 2 was released in December 2009.
